Maybe it's the lack of nicotine in my system right now, or maybe it's just about time I get a little fed up with being the "nice one" and giving and giving of myself with naught to show for it...
I'm not trying to sound bitter...but it's inevitable. I've been doing some volunteer work for a local Disabled Citizens chapter and one of the bosses depends on DO and myself to keep her porch stocked with firewood to help her and her ailing husband out.
I do these things gladly, as I am always willing to help someone out....it's in my nature. But, I want a job in that place more than I've ever wanted any other job in my life! I keep calling and calling and keep getting the same "We'll let them know you called today, have a good day".
Now, I've been doing volunteer stuff for them...today, they called and asked DO if he would go to a consumer's house and install new locks on her doors....
Again, we LOVE helping people out, but for us right now, times are really really hard and it feels like we are the ones giving of ourselves and expected to continue, but it seems nothing is coming back to us....
Maybe we're just being taught patience...who knows...but time is of the essence, we need some income in this house...and soon!
Oh yeah...I just called them AGAIN and have now been told that there won't be any openings until after the first of the year. I just want to curl up in a ball and cry myself to sleep....
It breaks my heart when my babies ask me what they're getting for Christmas this year...I've taught them well...that Christmas isn't all about gifts and things...but I can't help it...it's heartbreaking.

I've quit smoking and am now fighting the withdrawal symptoms that come along with the absence of nicotine. So, far, I'm doing ok...getting a little jittery and wanting to eat eat eat...but I'm just hiding out in my room trying to wait out the cravings.
Any positive energy sent this way will be greatly appreciated!

It never fails! Every year around this exact time, the 1st of December, things start to get crazy!
The stores are packed full of people loading their shopping carts with this and that...and it's sure to get ugly if two or more people head for the same item...and there's only one left!
Credit cards are flying, cash is handed over in mass amounts and the stress levels shoot to the stars.
For a season that is supposed to be joyous and warm, it sure seems to me that people just wear themselves out instead of sitting back and realizing what the season really is all about.
It's wonderful to give...but only if it makes you happy to do so! Give within your means, you don't have to spend money you don't have!
Giving isn't just about giving gifts...it's a giving of ourselves.
I will not let Christmas stress me out. I know the true meaning of the season and that's what I remember when I see these crazy people running about with bloodshot eyes and frowns and even tears.
Give of yourself...not so much of your checkbook!
May each of you have a wondrous holiday season and I pray that you all strive to remember that this is a time for family, warmth and togetherness. Keep it simple...and it's beautiful!

You're a very giving and caring person Sarah. You're not going to go unrewarded for all of your hard work and giving. Something will come along for you and it will blow you out of the water. I believe that with every fiber of my being.

I am so sorry for your disappointment. Will keep you and your family in my prayers and hope that things change for the better soon. I am also here for you should you need a shoulder to lean on.
